7/11 - 7/14/2014 - The Lawson Family Reunion
The Lawson Family Reunion held another memorable weekend in Wickiup. We took over almost the entire resort. Always have a wonderful time seeing family from Iowa. We are here from Iowa, South Dakota and Washington states. We chose this place as it could accommodate a large group and is about half way for everyone plus we all love the Black Hills. The cabins are fun and ass to the charm and history. Our newest member, Baby Clark - this is his first time of what should be many more reunions.

Our brother in law Wayne came for dinner last night. Aberdeen, Watertown and Fargo families arrive tomorrow. Rained last night but there's still a fire ban - no campfires or charcoal grills. The Aberdeen Vaux's are in Pioneer with the Fargo Vaux's. Triplets in Outpost and Reeders in Timbertop. Wonderful trip Afternoon rain showers - cool nights. Josh won $10 in Deadwood. And that other guy is right - there's no UFO landing pad at Devil's Tower.

Here from Kentucky, our families first time out west. Traveled through the Badlands on our way to the cabin. Definitely recommended! Saw Mt. Rushmore and visited Wall Drug. A lot of bikers already up here for Sturgis but very friendly people. My little brother made friends here and they fished in the creek that flows through Wickiup. He caught a huge trout at this secret pond. We traveled to Devil's Tower in Wyoming. Neat! Need to go visit. We are leaving this morning :( Good memories and lots of fun.
7/13/2011
Rosemary and Michael - and scooter - from Denver. We're the 1st arrivals for the Vaux Family reunion - Aberdeen and Watertown families arriving tomorrow. Overcast, cool and damp - but the cabin is warm and cozy - Michael's got breakfast going - it's great!

7/2 - 7/6/2017 - Ginger, Harold, Paula, Josh and Kelli
Hello from Indiana - This vacation was an adventure shared by me, my 2 younger sisters and their boyfriends. We trailered 3 Harleys & found the majestic scenery and wild life thrilling during the day. At night, we played games and bonded as a family. Everyone we have met, whether they lived here or were visitors have treated us as if they have known us forever. The local cuisine kept us stuffed especially Cheyenne Crossing. Overall our adventure has held beautiful sights, experiences and people. We cant wait to come back again. The serenity and peace helped to add to our experience.
8/25 - 8/28/2016 - The Moreheads, MT

Tonight is the first night that my family and I are spending here. So far, we are having a great time. We feel sort of like w are living in a play house. If is definitely an adventure - much more exciting than a hotel. As it is nearly 9pm we will be going to bed soon. Tomorrow we will enjoy the sites of South Dakota before we head back to Wickiup for our last night. This is an experience which neither I nor my family will ever forget.
8/1 - 8/3/2013 - Tommy and Jody - NM, John and Christy - NM, Dugan and Phyllis - TX
Highlander cabin for 6. Blast while we were here. We rode 2000 miles from Texas/NM to get here for Sturgis. We really enjoyed this cabin, the scenery and especially Les and Jackie! Bless this cabin and all other - Hope as much fun comes to the next visitors. God Bless Our Country.
Jack, UT
I loved exploring the trail behind the cabins with cousins.
7/23 - 7/26 - Doelling Family Reunion
Cousins climbing on playground, wading in the creek, midnight strolls in groups, playing games on the grass, eating outside, talking about our ancestors and the sacrifices they made for us. What a great setting for all of this! Each family gets their own cabin. We are here from Utah, California, Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia. We met in the middle. I love being lulled to sleep by the whispering brook and the gentle breeze as I sleep on the porch. We stepped back in time to a simpler place. We love the Highlander cabin and are inspired to live more like this when we return. We will try to shut out more noise and live with less, making more time for growing closer to each other, to nature and to our God - who created it all. Thank you for providing us with such a place. P.S Rosemary, Michael, Scooter and Sally. How blessed you are to come here often! Thanks for sharing your experiences in here....someone listened! And we hio you will be back!

7/22 - 7/25/2011 - Cathy, Tom, Jennifer, Thomas and Matthew
It's the first time to South Dakota for the whole family! Getting here from Kansas City, Missouri, was a long trip across grasslands. After a 14 hour trip (due to flooding) we fell asleep exhausted. Wasn't until the next day we saw the char, this place had to offer. The openness of the cabin allowed us to laugh, tease and play around without leaving our beds. Thomas (23) and Matt (17) slept in the room just off the kitchen. Tom and Cathy (the parents) slept on the porch. Jennifer (25) slept on an air mattress in the kitchen. The parents enjoyed the kids joking around as they laid down to sleep. On that Saturday, we went to the Big Thunder Mine, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. That Sunday, we drove to Wyoming, so that the males of the family could geek out over Devil's Tower. They even went as far as re-enacting scenes from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Including sculpting mashed potatoes. We had a blast! Having no tv, no internet let us bond in ways we hadn't before. Tonight, we plan to cook marshmallows and hot dogs over the campfire. I don't know when we will be able to come back, but, this is where we will stay!
6/22 - 6/26/2011 - Barb and Charles
Got in late, had a comfortable sleep. Went to Sheridan Lake, Pactola Lake for fishing, caught a few. Friday did more fishing at Deerfield. Got more fish and caught the shoot out in Deadwood. Had an awesome time. Spent Saturday night seeing the sights and Crazy Horse was a great time. Everyone was friendly, cabins are great!
